A military operation in Colombia’s southern department of Putumayo has drawn parallels with so-called ‘false positive’ cases of years gone by, in which slain civilians were passed off as felled guerrillas. President Iván Duque initially heralded the 28 March operation as a success, praising the “neutralisation” of 11 supposed members of the dissident 48th Front of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) guerrilla group.
