*Argentina’s agribusiness exports totalled US$12.12bn in the first quarter of 2022, up 17.4% on the same period of the previous year, according to industry lobby group Consejo Agroindustrial Argentino (CAA). In March alone, agribusiness exports totalled US$4.61bn, up 20% year-on-year. According to CAA, the products with the greatest yearly increase in Q1 2022 were cotton (+286%), eggs and poultry (+114%), wheat (+111%) and popping corn (+102%). In the first quarter of 2022, soy exports were worth US$3.81bn, down 18% year-on-year. In March, Argentina’s government led by President
Alberto Fernández announced the suspension of export registrations of soybean oil, soymeal and other related products. According to the government, exports of soy products, the country’s leading export sector, totalled US$23.8bn in 2021, representing 30.6% of Argentina’s exports.
