BRAZIL: War stokes inflation fears

The monetary policy committee (Copom) in Brazil’s central bank (BCB) raised the Selic, the benchmark interest rate, by one percentage point to 11.75% last week. In the minutes from its Selic meeting, released on 22 March, the Copom reiterated concerns with rising inflation due to the impact of the war between Ukraine and Russia.
