On 21 March Chile’s minister of the presidency, Giorgio Jackson, said that the government would recommend that congress discuss “with extreme urgency” a bill offering an amnesty to those currently serving prison sentences related to their involvement in the wave of protests, known as the ‘estallido social’, in 2019 and 2020.
