Juan Benavides Feliú, has resigned as the president of the board of directors of Chile’s state-owned mining company Codelco as of today (11 March). He assumed the post in May 2018 under the outgoing government led by President
Sebastián Piñera which leaves office today (11 March). He did not provide reasons for his early departure beyond citing “
personal reasons”. According to a Codelco statement Benavides led a “
profound organisational transformation with the objective of increasing the firm’s competitivity and raising standards of sustainability, probity, technology, innovation”. His replacement will be named by incoming President
