*Mexico’s economy ministry has announced that Economy Minister
Tatiana Clouthier held a meeting in Mexico City (CDMX) with South Korean Trade Minister
Han-Koo Yeo to agree on the resumption of negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA). According to the economy ministry, the FTA will lay the foundation for strengthening cooperation on emerging trade issues, including supply chain resilience, environmental sustainability and digital transformation. Both countries expect to hold a preliminary meeting later this month with the goal of having the first round of negotiations in the first half of 2022. The FTA with South Korea is one of four FTAs that Clouthier has
said the Mexican government will complete by the end of 2022, along with those with Brazil, Ecuador and the United Kingdom.
