Fierce debate over morning-after pill

The Roman Catholic Church has launched a fierce attack on the morning-after pill, claiming that it causes abortions. The secular establishment, in the form of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, retorted that this view is unscientific: UNAM's scientists argue that as the embryo only starts to develop 14 days after fertilisation, the pill cannot be said to produce abortions.
