* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures on exports, which totalled US$77.93bn in 2021, representing a 42.0% increase on the 2020 total. Imports totalled US$63.18bn (+49.2%), leaving Argentina’s trade surplus at US$14.75bn. In December, monthly exports totalled US$6.58bn (up 85.9% year-on-year but down 1.0% in seasonally-adjusted terms compared to November), and imports totalled US$6.21bn (up 59.1% year-on-year and up 13.4% in monthly seasonally-adjusted terms). The main export sectors in December were manufactured agricultural products (US$2.34bn; +35.5% year-on-year), industrial manufacturing (US$1.91bn; +29.1%), and raw materials (US$1.77bn; +26.9%).
