* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released the latest figures for the external sector, which show that foreign direct investment (FDI) to Brazil totalled US$4.6bn in November, compared with US$2.3bn a year earlier, in November 2020. In the 12 months to November 2021, FDI to Brazil totalled US$51.5bn, or 3.20% of GDP, up from US$49.2bn, or 3.09% of GDP, in the 12 months to October, and from US$39.5bn (2.69% of GDP) in the 12 months to November 2020. According to the same figures from the BCB, Brazil recorded a US$2.5bn deficit in its current account balance of payments in November; in the 12 months to November, the balance of payments deficit totalled US$30.8bn, or 1.92% of GDP.
