* Brazil’s telecoms regulator (Anatel) has concluded the country’s first
5G spectrum auction, announcing that it raised a total R$47.2bn (US$8.51bn) in investments, including future commitments. This makes it the largest telecoms auction carried out in Latin America to date, but it is less than the R$50bn the government had been hoping to raise, as not all the batches were sold, notably in the 26 GHz frequency. Communications Minister
Fábio Faria nonetheless said the auction has been considered a success; he noted that the sold batches raised R$4.79bn above the minimum price and said that the government might reschedule an auction for the unsold spectrum rights.
