In brief: Argentina’s industry and construction sectors slow in August
* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released its latest figures on industrial manufacturing and construction, which show that both activities grew year-on-year in August but contracted compared with the previous month. The industrial manufacturing index saw a 0.6% contraction in August compared with July, the second consecutive monthly contraction after a -2.2% variation in July, but expanded 13.8% compared with August 2020. Activity in the construction sector, meanwhile, shrank 2.6% in August compared with July, but grew 22.7% year-on-year.
