* Brazil’s labour & social security ministry has released the latest figures from the employment registry (Novo Caged) which show that a net 372,265 jobs were created in the formal sector in August. Onyx Lorenzoni has hailed these figures as confirmation that the measures adopted by the government to respond to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and spur economic recovery have borne fruit. Lorenzoni said that the objective is to close 2021 with approximately 2.5m new jobs in the formal sector.
