* The European Union (EU) has launched its €1m (US$1.17m) Green Circular initiative in Ecuador, which aims to help the country achieve a circular economic model by promoting sustainable business strategies. This funding will be directed towards small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to assist them in cleaning up their production methods and improve their waste management. The project will be overseen by the Ecuadorean federation of exporters (Fedexpor) and will run for 27 months. Green Circular is part of a broader EU scheme to donate €2.3m towards building a circular economy in Ecuador, which will include policy guidance as well as support for businesses.
