Rolando Castro tweeted that the decision was approved by the workers and government but not the private sector. He said that 522,000 families would benefit as a result of the extra income. The minimum wage was last increased in El Salvador in 2018 and currently ranges from some US$300 a month for those employed in the sectors of trade, services & industry to between US$200-US$224 in agriculture.
