Luz María de la Mora, has highlighted that Mexico remains the US’s number one trade partner. Citing figures from the US Census Bureau, Mexico’s economy ministry (SE) has reported that trade between the two neighbours amounted to US$153.9bn in the first quarter of 2021, equivalent to 14.8% of US foreign trade – placing Mexico ahead of Canada (14.5%) and China (14.3%) as the US’s principal trading partner. US exports to Mexico in Q1 totalled US$64bn, while imports from Mexico to the US amounted to US$89.9bn.
