PARAGUAY | Subsidies for workers on Argentine border. Paraguay’s finance minister, Óscar Llamosas, said on 7 April that a fund worth between US$9m and US$10m would be made available to subsidise workers in 16 towns on the frontier with Argentina affected by border closures imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Llamosas said that some 43,000 people working in the formal and informal sectors would be eligible for the financial assistance. It will amount to four payments, each one equivalent to half of the minimum wage or G$1.096m (US$170), for formal workers, and two payments of G$500,000 apiece for informal workers.
