Few countries are more deadly for environmental human rights defenders (EHRDs) than Mexico. At least 15 such individuals were murdered there in 2019, nudging the total death toll since 2012 up to 83, according to the annual report published on 18 March by environmental NGO Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental (Cemda).
