Pressure is mounting on Peru’s attorney general Pedro Chávarry to resign. President Martín Vizcarra was joined by the vast majority of Peru’s senior public prosecutors in calling for Chávarry to go this week after damning evidence emerged of his links to the corruption and influence-trafficking scandal rocking the top echelons of the national judiciary. To top it off, thousands of protesters took to the streets of Lima on 12 September to demand his resignation.
