Ecuador: President Lenín Moreno has partially vetoed the national economic development plan that has recently been approved by the national legislature. The national economic development plan is an initiative promoted by the Moreno government that seeks to introduce a series of economic measures designed to dismantle the strong government influence in the national economy installed by the previous administration led by Rafael Correa (2007-2017). A version of the bill was approved in the national assembly with votes from the ruling Alianza País party and the political opposition but Moreno has presented 66 objections to the text that seek to ease some of the limits on government spending imposed by the approved bill.
