Chile: The economy grew by 0.9% in the second quarter of the year on the same period last year, according to a report published by Chile’s Central Bank (BCCh) on 18 August, as well as expanding by 0.7% on the first quarter of 2017. However, the total GDP growth figure for the first half of the year (0.5%) is Chile’s lowest since 2009, due to a slump in exports (down 3.5% in the second quarter). A BCCh survey by financial experts released earlier this month is predicting that Chile’s GDP will grow between 1% and 1.75% in 2017.
