ECUADOR | Remittances. Ecuadorean expatriates remitted US$2.82bn in 2008, a significant 8.6% decline on the previous year, according to the central bank. The main source of remittances was the US, which accounted for 46.8% of the total, followed by Spain (41%); Italy (7.5%); and other countries (4.7%). The proportional breakdown of remittances remained constant, the bank said.
