REGION: Some bright spots amid the caution

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac) has updated its Overview of the Latin American and Caribbean economies, and has now revised downwards its GDP growth figure for 2012 (from 3.1% to 3.0%). This, in turn, has led to a reduction in its forecasted regional growth for 2013 from 3.8% to 3.5%. However, its projected growth for the Caribbean in 2013 of 2% is a reasonable advance from 0.9% growth for 2012.
