Energy cooperation agreement with Ecuador. On 12 July Mexico’s federal electrical commission, CFE, announced that it had signed a framework energy cooperation agreement with Ecuador. In a statement the CFE explained that it had signed an agreement with Ecuador’s national energy efficiency and renewable energy institute, Iner, to facilitate cooperation in “research and development, the transfer of technology and the professional development of personnel”. Currently both institutions are cooperating in the construction and design of the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric plant in Ecuador. This plant is expected to produce 1,500 megawatts once it is completed in 2015 making it Ecuador’s largest hydroelectric power plant.
