CHILE: Piñera signs key law into effect

It took the brutal death of a young homosexual man at the hands of presumed neo-Nazis in March to spur the government into action but Chile now has an anti-discrimination law. President Sebastián Piñera promulgated the law this week. It had languished in congress for over seven years until public outrage generated by the death of Daniel Zamudio, who had been in a coma for three weeks after being savagely beaten in a Santiago park.
