BRAZIL| Fewer rural conflict deaths, more conflicts. The Catholic Church’s Commissão Pastoral da Terra (CPT) reports that the number of deaths resulting from conflicts in rural areas fell from 34 in 2010 to 29 in 2011, but the number of death threats rose by 177.6%, from 125 to 347, and that of conflicts rose from 1,186 to 1,363, affecting 600,925 people.
