President Otto Pérez Molina is facing his first show of unrest from Guatemala’s indigenous sector. More than 100,000 protesters marched on Guatemala City last week to put forward long-standing demands. Proportionally, Guatemala has the second biggest indigenous population (60% of the total on UN estimates) after Bolivia in Latin America.
