The 30th anniversary of the beginning of the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas War was commemorated on 2 April with numerous official ceremonies across Argentina. President Cristina Fernández and the UK’s Prime Minister David Cameron each attended a ceremony to honour the servicemen who participated in the conflict; however, due to time difference, Cameron spoke much earlier than Fernández, giving the latter the opportunity to respond during a rally in Ushuaia, the capital of Tierra del Fuego, the province to which the islands belong under Argentina’s federal constitution.
