The huge Brazilian backed Brito hydro-electric project appears to be back up in the air again. A senior Brazilian official from the construction company Andrade Gutiérrez which is designing and building the dam which will lie on the San Juan river between Lake Cocibolca and the Pacific coast said on 7 February that lot of the preliminary work for the project had yet to be done. The dam is controversial with environmentalists because it will reverse the course of the San Juan river which currently flows into the Caribbean.
