During his mid-October official state visit to the UK, President Ricardo Martinelli highlighted that “Panama is one of only three countries in the world that is run by entrepreneurs, not politicians” – he identified the other two as Chile and Georgia. And in true businessman style, the President appeared to have one goal in mind: ‘sell, sell and sell’. This was clearly the purpose of the ‘Panama Invest 2011’ business summit organized by Proinvex, a new government agency ascribed to the ministry of commerce and industries (Mici) which aims to attract foreign investment and promote Panama’s exports.
