BOLIVIA-PERU |
Inflation still climbing. Inflation in Bolivia
increased by 1.25% in October, according to the national statistics institute (INE),
meaning that accumulated inflation for the first 10 months of the year, at
9.68%, is not far short of triple the forecast of 3.7% for the entire year and
far higher than the revised target of 6% set by the central bank back in July.
Inflation was driven by rising food and drink prices, which were up by 2.46% in
October. It was a similar story in Peru where consumer prices rose by 0.31% in
October, pushed by food and drink prices, which were up by 0.54%. Accumulated
inflation for the first 10 months of the year was 3.34%, close to the annual
target of 3.5%.
