TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: Manning wins comfortable majority

Prime Minister Patrick Manning won a second straight term in office on 5 November with his ruling People's National Movement (PNM) securing 26 of the 41 seats in parliament. The opposition United National Congress-Alliance (UNC-A) picked up the remaining 15 seats, with its dissident splinter group, Congress of the People (COP) failing to return a single seat. It managed to attract a significant amount of the UNC-A core vote, however, enabling the PNM to win key marginal constituencies.
