DEBT: Nicaragua promises to pay
President Daniel Ortega said on 16 February that the government would pay
the Certificados Negociables de Inversiones (Cenis), issued by the government of
President Arnolod Alemán. Ortega's commitment was far from copper-bottomed. He
said the government would change the terms of the debt and reduce the amount of
money it spent on servicing it.
