*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures for its consumer price index, showing a monthly inflation rate of 0.42% in September, while annual inflation stood at 3.45%. This is up from monthly inflation of 0.20% in August and 0.03% in July. Annual inflation is also up from 3.26% in August and 3.12% in July. However, the annual figure came in just below the 3.47% median estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, stood at 0.20% in monthly terms, up from 0.16% in August, and 3.75% in annual terms, which is down from 3.88% the previous month. The latest figures come as the central bank (Banxico) held its benchmark interest rate at 6.50% for the third consecutive occasion in September.
