In brief: Inflation slows in Venezuela

*Venezuela’s central bank (BCV) has announced that the monthly inflation rate in September was 8.4%, down from 8.9% in August and 19.9% in July. The BCV does not provide an annual inflation figure each month, but the 8.4% September monthly inflation rate contrasted with inflation of 21.6% in September 2025. The categories with the steepest price increases in September 2026 were education services (+11.1%), clothing and footwear (+8.9%), and recreation and culture (+8.7%).
