Luis Caputo has announced the launch of a programme by which individuals can gain citizenship by making financial contributions and investments in the country. With applications for the scheme due to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, applicants for citizenship will be required to make a direct, non-refundable contribution of US$350,000 to Argentina’s national treasury, or invest in a new US$800,000 bond specifically created for the programme. A family unit with two children under the age of 18 may apply for a fee of US$500,000, whereas an applicant’s spouse, as well as their children between the ages of 18-25, can gain citizenship with a contribution of US$100,000. According to a government press release, the initiative comes amid Argentina’s process of attracting capital and
“strengthening the investment climate”.
