*Mexico’s flag carrier, Aeroméxico, has confirmed that information exposed in a recent data breach includes names, dates of birth, email addresses, and phone numbers. The airline stated that it had not identified any leak of financial data, such as bank account numbers or credit card details, or of passwords, or information related to flight itineraries. Aéromexico said that the leak may have happened in October 2025 “as part of an international campaign of cyberattacks that affected companies from diverse sectors” and that the breach had affected a customer information management platform administered by an external provider, saying it had not been clear that data had been leaked at that time. The airline’s response comes after the ministry of anticorruption and good governance issued a statement on 20 September saying it had identified a possible breach of personal data in a system that may be linked to Aeroméxico. The ministry said that its monitoring had led to the discovery of a post on messaging platform Telegram, published on 18 September, in which a user offered access to a database “allegedly belonging to Aeroméxico containing more than 15m records… which reportedly included full names, email addresses, landline numbers, cell phone numbers, dates of birth, and registration dates”. It said it had obtained a sample of these records which it would analyse in order to begin an investigation to determine the alleged responsibility for the compromised database.
