In brief: Brazil’s Petrobras signs oil contracts in Ivory Coast

*Brazil’s state-owned oil company Petrobras has signed production sharing contracts with the government of the Ivory Coast and the Ivorian state oil firm Petroci Holding. With the contracts signed by its Dutch subsidiary, Petrobras Netherlands BV, the Brazilian oil giant will hold 90% control as an operator of eight offshore blocks in the Ivory Coast. A company statement released yesterday cites Petrobras CEO Magda Chambriard as praising the “high exploratory potential” of the Ivory Coast and highlighting the technical expertise that Petrobras can offer. The statement also framed this deal amid the company’s efforts to “explore new frontiers and diversify its overseas portfolio.
