*El Salvador’s central bank (BCR) has released new figures showing that the annual inflation rate in August was 3.19%. This is up from 2.49% in July and is the highest figure of the year. Of the 12 categories, transport posted the highest annual rise in August (+8.23%), as a result of the increase in fuel prices stemming from the conflict in the Middle East. Other categories to post significant annual increases were restaurants and hotels (+4.54%) and food and non-alcoholic drinks (+3.65%). The BCR did not provide monthly inflation figures.
