*Brazil’s ministry of development, industry, trade, and services has released the monthly trade figures for August, showing a trade surplus of US$7.39bn. This marks a 23.8% increase compared to August last year. Monthly exports totalled US$33.16bn in August this year, up 12.2% year-on-year, while the total import value stood at US$25.76bn, up 9.2%. Brazil’s agricultural exports totalled US$7.39bn, up 11.4% compared to August 2025, while manufacturing posted US$17.17bn, up 10.2% year-on-year. Extractive industries saw a higher year-on-year increase of 16.4%, with a monthly export value of US$8.35bn. Exports to Brazil’s top trade partner, China, totalled US$8.34bn, down 10.9% year-on-year. Meanwhile, exports to the US, Brazil’s second largest trade partner, were up 12.1% year-on-year, registering an export value of US$3.19bn in August this year.
