In brief: Paraguay posts zero monthly inflation

*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released the latest figures for its consumer price index (IPC), which put monthly inflation at 0% in August and annual inflation at 1.5%. This monthly result comes after monthly deflation rates of 0.1% in July and 0.3% in June and a monthly inflation rate of 0.1% in May. The latest annual inflation figure also marks a deceleration from 1.6% in July, 2.1% in June, and 2.4% in May. As regards sub-categories, fuel posted the highest monthly rise (4.3%) in August followed by fresh fruit (+1.7%). Fresh vegetables and tubers posted the highest monthly deflation result of 6.1%.
