In brief: Brazil’s industrial production rises in monthly terms

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for industrial production, which showed a monthly increase of 0.2% in July. In year-on-year terms, monthly production was down 0.5% compared to July 2025, while the accumulated annual production in the 12 months through July 2026 was up 0.6% on the preceding 12-month period. Of the 25 product categories measured by the Ibge, 13 posted monthly increases in production in July. The greatest increases were registered in computer equipment and electronic and optical products (+12.2%), other transport equipment (+11.2%), and smoking products (+11.1%). The categories with the largest monthly declines were printing and reproduction equipment (-17.2%), various products (-9.0%), and metallurgy (-1.4%).
