*Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) has announced that remittances to the country in July totalled US$5.57bn, up 3.0% year-on-year and up 0.5% from US$5.47bn
in June. The average remittance amount in July was US$426, up 3.0% from July 2025, while the number of remittances received did not vary significantly. Over the first seven months of 2026, remittances totalled US$36.35bn, up 3.1% year-on-year. This comes despite the continued US tax on remittance cash transfers and an intensified immigration crackdown under US President
Donald Trump.
