*Brazil’s labour ministry has released new figures from its national employment registry (Novo Caged), which show that a net total of 921,645 jobs were created between January and June 2026, up 1.96% year-on-year. Meanwhile, in the month of June a net 145,161 new jobs were created, up from 81,823 jobs in May but down from 161,999 new jobs created in June 2025. In the first six months of 2026 the services sector recorded the greatest number of new jobs, with a total of 571,926 (+2.5% on the same period in 2025), followed by construction (168,962, +5.73%), and manufacturing (143,442, +1.6%). Trade was the only sector out of the five main groupings of economic activities to record a decrease, showing a decrease of 3,514 jobs.
