In brief: Honduras rejoins WB investment dispute panel
*The World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (Icsid) has announced that Honduras has ratified its membership of the convention, which “establishes the institutional and legal framework for the settlement of international investment disputes”. The move is in line with a promise with the conservative Partido Nacional (PN) government led by President Nasry Asfura which took office in late January. Honduras left Icsid in 2024 amid a dispute with Honduras Próspera, one of the so-called employment and economic development zones (Zedes), the legislative framework for which was revoked in 2022 by the previous leftist Partido Libertad y Refundación (Libre) government led by former president Xiomara Castro (2022-2026). According to Icsid, Honduras’ membership of the convention takes effect on 16 August 2026.
