In brief: Brazil’s vehicle production rises in first half of year

*Brazil’s national association of vehicle manufacturers (Anfavea) has released its latest production figures, which showed a total of 1.37m vehicles produced in the first half of 2026. This marks an increase of 8.8% compared to the 1.26m units produced in the first half of 2025. Meanwhile, vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 1.42m units in the first half of this year, up 18.5% compared to the first six months of 2025, while vehicle exports totalled 216,600 units, down 21.2% year-on-year. Anfavea’s data also showed the monthly production figures for June, which showed a total of 246,000 units produced, down 3.0% in monthly terms but up 17.2% year-on-year. The monthly sales figures for June showed that domestic sales totalled 272,500 units, down 0.8% compared to May and up 28.0% compared to June last year, and monthly exports stood at 36,700 units, down 1.9% on the previous month and down 26.7% on the same month in 2025.
