*Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has released the latest figures for its economic activity index (Imacec), showing a year-on-year decrease of 0.9% and a monthly decrease of 0.2% in May. In year-on-year terms, the production of goods was down 4.7%, mainly due to an 11.6% drop in mining activity and a 1.7% drop in manufacturing. Meanwhile, trade posted a year-on-year rise of 0.8% and services were up 1.0%. The non-mining Imacec figure showed a 0.7% year-on-year rise in activity, although it showed a 0.3% decrease in monthly terms. The production of goods registered a monthly decrease of 0.1% in May, with manufacturing posting a 0.1% drop and other goods decreasing by 1.0%, although mining was up 0.7% compared to April. Trade was up 0.2% in monthly terms, and services posted zero monthly variation.
