*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has reported that the country’s GDP increased by 2.3% in the first quarter of 2026 as compared to the same period of 2025 and by 0.7% compared to the previous quarter. According to Indec, the yearly results was due to an increase in private consumption (+2.7%) and exports (+9.8%). In Q1 2026, GDP growth was registered in 12 of the 16 sectors measured, with the greatest year-on-year growth registered in fishing (+27.5%), agriculture, hunting, and forestry (+18.1%), and mining (+12.3%). The sectors with the greatest year-on-year contractions were industrial manufacturing (-1.7%) and public administration (-1.4%). The Q1 2026 results compare to annual GDP growth of 2.2% in Q4 2026 and quarterly growth of 1.2%.
