Luis Caputo has announced that mining exports reached a record high in the first four months of 2026. In a social media post, Caputo said that mining exports between January and April increased by 84.3% compared to the same period of 2025, totalling US$3.25bn – a record for the period. He highlighted that lithium exports grew by 137.8% in terms of value while metalliferous minerals were up 77.6%. In terms of destinations, he highlighted the year-on-year increase in exports to China (+187%), the US (+101%), South Korea (+99%), Germany (+97%), and Canada (+68%).
