BRAZIL: Bolsonaro under pressure over Banco Master ties
Brazil’s political landscape was shaken this week by revelations involving Senator Flávio Bolsonaro of the right-wing Partido Liberal (PL) and banker Daniel Vorcaro, the central figure in the high-profile Banco Master fraud case, who is currently being held under preventive arrest. Press reports have revealed that Flávio sought financial backing from Vorcaro to produce a film about the life of his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023). The connections between Flávio and Vorcaro have dealt a blow to the senator’s reputation and his electoral ambitions, given that he is expected to be the main right-wing contender in the presidential election in October.
