Venezuela involved in Colombian security decisions

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro announced on 12 May that an air strike on a guerrilla camp in the eastern Catatumbo region was discussed in advance with the Venezuelan government. Petro has long argued that building ties with Venezuela’s formerly isolated leadership will bring security dividends, given the cross-border threat posed by armed groups.
